Shortlist revealed for inaugural AHEAD Asia hospitality awards

Dezeen promotion: a Bali hotel with in multi-hued brick walls, and a waterfront hotel for the Winter Olympics in South Korea are among the shortlisted projects for the inaugural AHEAD Asia awards for hospitality experience and design.

The AHEAD Asia awards celebrate the best in hospitality design and architecture.

Projects are split across 15 categories: Bar, Club or Lounge; Event Spaces; Guestrooms; Hotel Renovation & Restoration; Landscaping & Outdoor Spaces; Lobby & Public Spaces; Resort Hotel; Restaurant; Spa & Wellness; Suite; Urban Hotel – Conversion; Urban Hotel – Newbuild; Visual Identity of the Year; New Concept of the Year; and Outstanding Contribution.

Also among the 39 nominated hotels are projects in the Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Winners are selected by a judging panel made up of hoteliers and architects, as well as interior designers and industry figures. Each project will be assessed on its aesthetic execution, guest experience and commercial viability.

Finalists will be announced at the AHEAD Asia awards ceremony, which takes place on 7 March 2017 during Singapore Design Week at the Capitol Theatre in Singapore.

The AHEAD Awards cover four regions – Asia, Americas, Middle East and Africa, and Europe. Each of the awards will culminate in a global event in 2019, which will see the winners of the regional heats compete to be a worldwide winner for each category in 2019.
