IKEA Festival – Let's Make Room For Life
4 to 9 April 2017, 10am-8pm
Via Ventura 14, Milan

Taking place over six days during the Salone del Mobile furniture fair, the IKEA Festival will present a diverse programme of music, design, live acts and interactive performances celebrating the brand's founding principle of democratic design.

The festival will be located in a vast warehouse space in Milan's Lambrate district, laid out around different stages, which will host a programme of events from 10am to 8pm each day.

The Soft Spot stage is a calm space for hanging out and recharging, which will feature daily yoga sessions in the morning and a collaborative digital music performance in the evening by Swedish synthesiser company Teenage Engineering.

The stage will also host a series of talks with designers including Tom Dixon and brands such as HAY.

The Rooms For Life stage features an interactive set made up of different living rooms styled by the likes of Faye Toogood, Open House and Pella Hedeby. Each room will introduce new IKEA products and have a distinct mood.

The IKEA Today stage offers a behind-the-scenes peek at IKEA's product development. A number of workshops and prototyping sessions will be taking place, including robot painting hosted by Swiss design students.

Located outside of the warehouse, a pop-up restaurant called IKEA Food Market will serve up an Italian take on Swedish meatballs as well as drinks and fika – Swedish coffee and cake.

Other events taking place throughout the space include a light show made using pieces from IKEA's smart lighting collection, while visitors will be able to doodle alongside artist Kevin Lyons. A giant slide will also snake through the space.
