Formafantasma creates glassware with swathes of coloured pigment for Nude

Serving plates patterned with accents of yellow and blush pink by Formafantasma feature in Nude's latest glassware collection, which is launching at Maison&Objet later this month.

The Pigmento series by Formafantasma is part of a wider range of glassware made in collaboration with Nude, which will be on show at the Masion&Objet furniture fair in Paris from 19 to 23 January 2018.

When creating their collection, Formafantasma's Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin decorated an assortment of opaque glass serving plates and containers with "flashes of coloured pigment".

This resulted in each piece being marked with a unique colour detailing in hues of blush pink, yellow and grey.

The items in Formafantasma's collection include a frosted glass serving plate with a shallow rim and an angular water jug with an oval base that narrows at the top.  The series also features both a shallow and tall container with flat-domed lids.

Other designers to create pieces for the new glassware series include Sebastian Herkner, Brad Ascalon and Pentagon Design.

Ascalon's offering is a cocktail set named Hepburn, which includes rounded glass pieces with copper detailing.

Inspired by the actress Audrey Hepburn, Ascalon said the collection is intended to appear "fragile yet strong, elegant yet playful and simple and complex" –consisting of highball and lowball glasses, coupes, a pitcher with a brass stirrer and a shaker with brass detailing.

The Beret collection by German designer Herkner features a selection of lidded containers inspired by the traditional French hat.

Available in three colours – yellow, blue and purple – the tinted glass vessels are topped with brass lids that resemble the flat-crowned shape of a beret.

Another series in the collection is Pentagon Design's Blade vases that are inspired by the works of artist Olafur Eliasson, which often include the overlapping of transparent hues.

Similarly, the vases include clear glass volumes overlayed onto a coloured inner layer. They are available in three sizes and colours – a dark yellow, bright purple and pale pink.

Along with the new releases, Nude will also present updated colour variations of its Nest and Mist collections, both of which will be available in caramel, cobalt and petrol blue.

Istanbul-based Nude was founded in 2014. It has previously worked with Tomas Kral to design a series of glassware that resembles parrots and Joe Doucet and Pentagon Design to create whiskey carafes with marble stoppers and cheese domes with brass handles.
