Dezeen Showroom: plump cushions combine with thin crisscrossing metal frames in the Valentina Up outdoor furniture collection, created by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco for Diabla.

The Valentina Up collection is an update to Gandía-Blasco's previous Valentina collection, and keeps the same emphasis on ample cushioning but lifting the previously legless chairs off the ground.

"I tried to design with the minimum number of elements to give more prominence to the cushions and to make them a structural element rather than a decorative one, or an accessory to an armchair," said Gandía-Blasco.

Described by Diabla as light, fun and elegant, the Valentina Up collection incorporates an armchair, two-seater sofa, lounger and tables of two different sizes.

All feature slender, V-shaped zinc-plated iron rod legs, and with the raised height, the chairs now make sitting down and getting up easier.

Valentina Up is available in a range of colours, and its cushions feature removable covers made from high-quality outdoor fabrics from the likes of Sunbrella, Dedar and Kvadrat.
