The competition, which is free to enter for anyone over the age of 18 of any profession from any country around the world, closes for entries on Thursday 14 April 2022.

It features a top prize of $25,000 and total prize money of $85,000.

Full details of how to enter the competition are included in the competition brief and rules.

Contest seeks designs that re-envisage the future of mobility

The competition asks contestants to identify problems with mobility in their city or a city they are familiar with and propose solutions that reimagine the future of transportation, which, in turn, will significantly benefit the planet and create true sustainability.

Arrival is an electric vehicle company focused on the principles of sustainability, accessibility and empowered communities. Its vehicles span electric buses, delivery vans and a ride-sharing prototype car for Uber.

The company has pioneered a new method of designing and producing affordable electric vehicles, which are created using in-house plug-and-play components and proprietary composite materials.

Arrival's unique approach to design, materials and manufacturing should inform the proposals. The designs should focus on improving how people move around and within their environment.

$85,000 prize money up for grabs

Competition entries will be judged by a jury comprising leading architects and designers, as well as judges from Arrival and Dezeen, who will select the finalists and determine the overall winner.

The panel includes Kunlé Adeyemi of architecture, design and urbanism studio NLÉ, Elizabeth Diller of New York studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Yves Béhar of Fuseproject and Daniel Simon, best known for his work on feature films such as Tron: Legacy, Oblivion and Star Wars VIII.

They will be joined by Jeremy Offer and Martina Wierzbicki from Arrival and Marcus Fairs and Cajsa Carlson from Dezeen to complete the judging panel.

The judges will be looking for emerging talent to present visionary, insightful and impactful proposals that challenge mobility issues in cities. The quality of execution of the concept will also be considered.

Ten finalists will be revealed over two weeks on Dezeen in June 2022. Of these finalists, a winner will be selected, as well as a runner-up and third place.

The winner will receive the top prize of $25,000, while the runner-up will receive $15,000 and the third-placed entrant will receive $10,000. Each of the seven remaining finalists will receive prize money of $5,000.
