Solaria modular sofa by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba for Poltrona Frau
Dezeen Showroom: design duo Ludovica + Roberto Palomba have created an outdoor sofa for Italian furniture brand Poltrona Frau called Solaria modular sofa, which can be arranged in multiple configurations.
The Solaria sofa, which forms part of Polrtona Frau's Boundless Living Outdoor collection comes in two size options that can be adjusted and customised to suit the user's needs.
Designed for gardens, poolsides, terraces or decks, the sofa can be configured in either straight or corner variations by adding backrests and armrests, making it linear or curved.
It comes with either two or three seats that are covered in padded grey cushions.
The padded elements are removable and covered with outdoor fabric which the brand describes as "soft to the touch". The material is also designed to withstand different weather conditions.
"The outdoor cushions are designed to allow water to drain away, meaning that the sofas dry quickly and can be supplemented with other optional cushions to give extra support to the backrest," said the brand.
Solaria modular sofa has a base made from powder-coated lacquered stainless steel while its arms and backrest are covered with a handmade rope weave, with a pattern that thickens at the top and bottom.
Poltrona Frau suggests that the sofa can be used in both residential and contract settings.
