Michael Maltzan Architecture has completed the Ribbon of Light in Los Angeles, a concrete and steel bridge that connects two LA neighbourhoods.
The Ribbon of Light is the largest bridge project in the city's history. It replaces a deteriorating 1930s structure named the 6th Street Viaduct.
Commenters are on the fence. One reader commented: "Reminds me of Terminator 2".
Other stories in this week's newsletter include an "iconic" supertall skyscraper in Kuwait by Foster + Partners, a sustainably-sourced timber structure and a low-impact alternative to "unsustainable" avocados.
