Dezeen Showroom: created by Belgian designer Pierre Neirinckx for bathroom brand Vallone, RYO is a sculptural freestanding bathtub that contrasts smooth curves with defined edges.

Finished in a matte white surface, the bathtub has vertical parallel sides that round at both ends and chamfer towards the base.

"The sculptural character of the freestanding bathtub RYO is created by the attractive contrast of striking contours and gentle curves," said Vallone.

"The design plays with the ambivalence between solid-looking aesthetics and a subtle convex bathtub rim for comfortable bathing."

"The diamond-like cut gives RYO its expressive look, while the parallel sides allow both a space-saving and a central placement as a statement piece," the brand explained.

Vallone created the RYO bathtub from Velvet Stone biobased mineral casting material to give a continuous finish.

For a cohesive bathroom interior, the brand designed two countertop basins – RYO S and RYO Round S – to complement the RYO bathtub.
