Dezeen Showroom: design studio Barber Osgerby has created the Plan chair for Fredericia to provide maximum comfort and customisability within a minimal form.

Part of the flexible Plan collection of furniture intended for modern working, dining, and living, the Plan chair combines a clean, right-angled steel base with either a curved plywood or an upholstered seat and back.

The base is available in either brushed steel, black, Bordeaux or Modernist Green, while the seat and back comes in a range of wood finishes, fabrics or leathers, making the chair highly customisable for personalised home or contract interiors.

Fredericia considers Plan to strike a delicate balance between industrial elements and soft, humanistic curves in a way that makes the chair "extremely elegant".

"The Plan chairs and tables have expanded the scope of the Fredericia collection while staying true to the values we share: clarity of design, good materials, human empathy, and strength that endures," said Fredericia head of design Rasmus Graversen. "It is what sustainable design is made of."

Both FSC and EU Ecolabel certified, the Plan chair is designed for the circular economy and can easily be disassembled for repair, reupholstery or recycling.
