Promotion: Tile of Spain has announced its 2026 awards competition, inviting creatives to submit projects that spotlight the innovative use of Spanish ceramics.

The annual Tile of Spain Awards in Architecture and Interior Design champion the creative use of Spanish-made ceramic tiles in outstanding architecture and interior projects both in Spain and internationally.

The competition is open to architects, interior designers, landscape architects and decorators of any nationality.

Entrants may enter individually or as part of a team. There is a total prize fund of €35,000, which is split across different award categories, including Architecture and Interior Design.

Eligible projects must have been completed between January 2024 and October 2026 and must not have been submitted in previous editions of the awards.

Introduced last year, the awards now include subcategories within its Architecture and Interior Design categories.

Specifically, subcategories A-a and I-a are for projects using dry-pressed porcelain stoneware, while A-b and I-b are for projects using other ceramic materials, such as terracotta, rustic stoneware, glazed stoneware, extruded porcelain stoneware, wall tiles and mosaics.

This year's judging panel will be made up of professionals from the design industry, who are set to be announced later this year.

There are four prizes up for grabs, with €8,000 to be awarded across the professional Interior Design and Architecture categories. There is also a €3,000 prize for the Master's Thesis Project – a category dedicated to innovative student work.

The submission deadline is 22 October. Following this, the jury will meet in Castellón, Spain, to assess the entries and select the winning projects.

Last year's architecture prizes were awarded to Casa Marratxi by Casas inHAUS and Interventions in the Monastery of Santa María de Sijena by Pemán y Franco Arquitectos – Sebastián Arquitectos.

The top two prizes in the interior design category were awarded to Brickell Penthouse Miami by François Guglielmina – TOGU Miami Design, and Boc Beach by Il Mio design.

The awards are in their 25th year and are organised by the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association (ASCER). Tile of Spain encompasses more than 120 tile manufacturers and celebrates aesthetic and technical innovation in ceramic design.

Since 2004, Tile of Spain has supported a series of ceramic tile studies departments at different schools of architecture in Spain and abroad.

This year's awards are sponsored by Valenciaport and PwC Spain, with the support of the Conselleria de Economía, Hacienda y Administración Pública (Generalitat Valenciana).
