Competition overview

Buildner and the Mujassam Watan Initiative have asked participants to design sculptures that represent cultural identity in Saudi Arabia, including its future towards innovation.

Participants can choose between two sites: Abu Hadriyah Road, a major transportation corridor symbolising regional connectivity, and the Tharwa Sea Front in Al-Khobar, a vibrant waterfront district blending modern urban life with natural beauty.

Winning designs will be considered for construction, offering participants an opportunity to see their creations brought to life in one of the world's most rapidly transforming cultural landscapes.

Judges will review material choices, creativity, functionality and scalability of the projects.

Eligibility and judging criteria

The competition is open to any participant aged 18 and over. Proposals can be submitted by teams of a minimum of two and up to four individuals.

Submissions are judged based on their ideas. Participants can choose any site location, real or imaginary, as well as the size of their structure.

How to enter

All submissions must be uploaded via the upload panel:

• Participants are required to upload four A2 landscape-orientated presentation board with sketches, renderings, plans, sections, elevations, diagrams and/or other presentation tools to explain their proposal
• No video files are accepted
• All information provided in writing must be in English
• Access information and instructions on how to upload the presentation boards will be issued to participants via email immediately after successful registration
• Presentation boards must not indicate any information related to an individual's/team's identity

Submission deadlines

All participants must register for submission by 24 July 2025. The closing date for submissions is 27 August 2025.

Winners will be announced on 1 October 2025.
