Competition overview
Architecture and design have the power to invoke emotions within a space, but to what degree? The Museum of Emotions competition is a chance for architecture enthusiasts from around the world to explore the limits and potential of design in creating emotional states.
Participants in the competition are tasked with designing a museum that invokes two distinctive emotional reactions – one positive and one negative.
Participants are free to choose the specific emotions they incite with their designs, including fear, anger, anxiety, love, happiness, laughter, etc.
The purpose of the Museum of Emotions is to use architecture as the primary tool to create emotional states, through consideration of the scales of the spaces, the journey through the space, colour, lighting and material choice.
This is the seventh in a series of silent competitions, participants must communicate their ideas without the use of any text.
