Aedas has designed the Yohoo Museum, a cultural centre in Hangzhou, China.
The Yohoo Museum reimagines Hangzhou's cultural identity through a double-ring structure inspired by ancient jade rituals.
Located on Yohoo Lake, the building's steel frame creates a floating illusion, while translucent 'emerald glass' facades blend crystal-like transparency with jade's warmth.
Parametric modelling ensured efficient construction and circular courtyards symbolise heaven-earth connections, where the museum serves as a vibrant public realm, offering leisure spaces, panoramic lake views and social hubs.
In addition, its undulating roof has become a civic symbol, celebrating Liangzhu heritage and modern urban life.
This project has been longlisted in the cultural project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
