Filie Reclaim
Chang Wong Industrial has designed Filie Reclaim, a water-separable composite material for circular design.
Filie Reclaim is an innovative synthetic leather designed to solve one of the most pressing challenges in material development today: the recycling of composite materials.
Combining functional performance with environmental responsibility, Filie Reclaim utilises water – not chemicals or high-energy processes – to separate its layers, making true recycling not only possible but also practical.
The first version of Filie Reclaim is designed to address lifecycle management challenges in synthetic leather used for bags and other accessories, where multi-material construction is common.
The material is made with PVB plastic recovered from laminated safety glass sourced from the automotive and construction industries.
The key recycled PVB granulate is produced in Taiwan by Recotec.
This project has been shortlisted in the material innovation category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
