Mecanoo, Royal HaskoningDHV and Vakwerk Architecten have designed Ede-Wageningen Train Station, the new striking multimodal station in Ede, Netherlands.
Located in the heart of the Netherlands, Ede has nearly 120,000 residents and is known for its proximity to Veluwe National Park, a landscape of heathlands, sand dunes and forests.
The new station enhances passenger experience with improved services, functionality, safety and sustainability. Inspired by Veluwe, its timber canopy mimics the rhythm of tree cover, creating a natural, inviting atmosphere.
More than just an efficient transport hub, the design connects people with nature, making travel a seamless and enjoyable experience.
As the most iconic element of the station's design, the wooden roof mimics a tree canopy, boasting visual simplicity and sophistication, uniformly connecting the various quadrants of the transport hub, ensuring orientation from all sides.
This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure and transport project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
