Pièce Unique has designed the interiors of an immersive bathroom with tactile finishes at the Elsternwick Residence in Melbourne, Australia.
In this project, the French-Chinese duo Piece Unique orchestrates a refined interplay of materiality and tone, employing deep, moody INAX tiles to envelop the bathing space in a singular chromatic intensity.
Nestled between two bedrooms within a heritage worker's cottage in Elsternwick, this bathroom exemplifies an astute spatial economy.
Every surface is considered, every junction deliberate, reinforcing a tactile experience that resonates beyond its modest scale.
"The client envisioned a deep, sensory bathing experience, one that embraced generous ceiling heights, a rich, atmospheric palette devoid of white and the refined tactility of Japanese tiles," said Pièce Unique.
Custom joinery, crowned with a stone benchtop, further anchors the space in a bespoke materiality, elevating it beyond its constraints.
This project has been longlisted in the bathroom interior category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
