Svenskt Tenn has designed Frank in the Loom produced by Vandra Rugs, a rug collection woven from repurposed textiles, reinterpreting Josef Frank's renowned patterns in celebration of his 140th anniversary.
Svenskt Tenn's Frank in the Loom collection reimagines Josef Frank's textile legacy in a new medium: the handwoven rug.
Inspired by Margit Thorén's classic 'Schackruta' checkered rug and made from surplus linen and offcuts, the double-weave rugs are produced in limited quantities by Vandra Rugs' atelier in Ukraine and premiered during Stockholm Design Week 2025.
The collection targets collectors, interior designers and design-conscious customers, while this sustainable material sourcing aligns with the brand's environmental goals.
The exhibition at the Strandvägen store emphasised the weaving process and legacy of craftsmanship, with Vandra Rugs' Ukrainian atelier providing not only artisanal quality but also meaningful employment for women during conflict.
This project has been longlisted in the textile design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
