Barthélémy Griño has created a new laboratory within the nearly 200-year-old Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, Scotland.
The Glenmorangie Distillery, located in northern Scotland near the city of Tain, is a cornerstone of the Highlands' heritage.
Barthélémy Griño has designed a new research laboratory for creating and tasting spirits within this nearly two-hundred-year-old site. Halfway between tradition and modernity, this project consists of two buildings.
The taller one, inspired by the old lighthouses that guided ships in the Dornoch Firth, houses two monumental stills and a showroom space with breathtaking views over the shores.
Sleek and entirely glass-clad, the lighthouse is a celebration of innovation, where all day long, the fully glazed facade of the Lighthouse reflects the ever-changing sky, capturing its shades and brightness, in harmony with the outstanding landscape.
A lower building completes the facility, subtly merged with the existing warehouses, thanks to its traditional cladding made of local stone and slate.
This project has been longlisted in the workplace project (small) category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
