Tanseisha and Nomura have designed the exhibition interiors of the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
The Japan Pavilion at Expo 2025 embodies the theme, "Between Lives", offering a sensorial journey that fuses exhibition and architecture into a narrative of life's eternal cycle.
The pavilion's interior seamlessly integrates architecture and exhibition, guiding visitors through a circular path of sensorial zones shaped by light, material and narrative.
In addition, a biogas system transforms food waste into energy, powering the pavilion and symbolising renewal.
Constructed primarily from CLT (cross-laminated timber), all components are designed for disassembly and reuse after the Expo – ensuring the story of circulation continues beyond the event.
As a result, the pavilion is both a national showcase and a living reflection on sustainability.
This project has been longlisted in the exhibition design (interior) category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
