Productora has designed Kymaia, a new hotel with 22 suites distributed on a 1.5-hectare plot of land located in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Inspired by pre-Hispanic vestiges, Kymaia's geometric architecture contrasts with the organic landscape, where its rooms are contained by inclined walls of rammed earth bricks that provide thermal comfort and house service areas.
A 10-metre-high traditional palapa shelters the main restaurant, with a solid basement for service areas and dining above to capture views and breezes.
To improve the arid, deforested terrain, green areas and a sinuous pool were added, expanding the nearby mangrove and enhancing the site’s microclimate and biodiversity.
In addition, the 'Shala' for yoga features a circular roof on a square base, with two V-shaped walls and rooftop access.
This project has been longlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
