David Kohn Architects has designed the Gradel Quadrangles to address undergraduates' residential, study and pastoral needs at New College in Oxford, England.
The Gradel Quadrangles is a major expansion of New College Oxford that addresses the residential, study and pastoral needs of undergraduates and is one of the most significant recent additions to Oxford's historic cityscape.
The scheme contains 94 student bedrooms, a shared study space and a recital hall, alongside facilities – including classrooms, an assembly hall and dining facilities – for New College School. In addition, the landmark 21.5-metre tower houses offices for the Gradel Institute of Charity.
"The Gradel Quadrangles buildings are essentially collegiate with a distinct sense of place and very much without precedent in their architecture and material treatment," said David Kohn Architects.
This project has been longlisted in the education project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
