Stolon Studio Architects has designed The Parks, a rural development in Herefordshire, England.
The Parks reimagines a disused farmstead as a low-impact rural community – fusing heritage buildings, ecological restoration and sociable living into a sustainable model for future countryside development.
This project is a pioneering rural development in Herefordshire, transforming a derelict dairy farm into eight sustainable homes through deep retrofit and sensitive heritage restoration.
Embracing low-carbon living, biodiversity gain, and community stewardship, it integrates air source heat pumps, salvaged materials and shared spaces including a community meadow, orchard and "Library of Things".
Residents collectively manage the site as a Community Land Asset, fostering long-term environmental and social value.
With a focus on inclusivity, local craftsmanship, and ecological regeneration, The Parks delivers measurable impact across multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals, offering a replicable model for place-based, low-carbon rural regeneration.
This project has been longlisted in the housing category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
