Poincare Mobile Imaging Laser Scanner

LEAPX has designed the Poincare Mobile Imaging Laser Scanner in collaboration with Realsee.

In order to cope with the growing demand for scanning, the Realsee team invited the LEAPX team to cooperate in design and development to create a mobile scanning device: Poincaré. LEAPX has been leading the configuration design since the early stages of the project.

Under reasonable layout design, the Poincare scanner finally adopted multiple SLAM technologies – LiDAR and the camera cooperated without interfering with each other.

With Realsee's powerful software algorithm support, the Poincaré scanner becomes the first laser scanning equipment in the industry to support full-view colour points directly from the camera.

"The biggest complaint users have about existing mobile scanning devices is that handheld devices are too heavy and can cause severe muscle soreness if held for a long time," told LEAPX. "Although wearable devices solve this problem, they are too bulky and have poor flexibility."

Therefore, users need a lightweight and high-performance product to help them complete scanning tasks efficiently – as a result, the product's shell is made of aluminium alloy material, which is strong and light.

This project has been shortlisted in the product design category of Dezeen Awards China 2023.
