Koko Market

CPI and Vari Architects have designed Koko Market, a commercial building in Chengdu, China.
This project revitalises two former showhouses through an "intervening rather than dominant" approach.

By expanding the space and integrating micro-topography, a vibrant market is naturally interwoven with its environment.

Utilising abundant wood and recycled materials while preserving existing trees, the arched structures thoughtfully accommodate growing trunks, ensuring the architecture adapts to ecology.

The result is a contrasting aesthetic where industry and nature harmonise.

This project has been shortlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
