Slow People Soul Workshop
ArConnect Architects has designed the Slow People Soul Workshop, a spiritual space in the forest in Yunnan, China.
Nestled in Dali's Yinqiao Forest, the Slow People Soul Workshop is a serene retreat that embodies slow living. Centred around a native tree, its circular, sloping roof blends architecture with nature.
Low eaves (under 1.5 metres) invite curiosity, while an open wooden platform frames meditative sky views. Built with prefabricated steel-wood for minimal ecological impact, it features reclaimed timber shingles for weathered charm.
Designed as a supporting space for Xiaohongshu's inaugural Slow People Music Festival, the project required completion within two months while minimising site disruption and preserving the forest's original ecosystem.
As a result, this sanctuary reconnects visitors with nature and inner peace through poetic design and tranquillity.
This project has been shortlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
