Competition overview

Buildner has announced Pavilion Atlas 2026 – a global architecture ideas competition inviting designers to create a conceptual pavilion that tells a story of a country.

Participants are asked to select a country they feel connected to and design a pavilion that expresses its cultural, social, environmental or political identity through architectural narrative.

The competition encourages conceptual clarity, emotional depth, and storytelling through space, rather than through symbols or national clichés.

Designs can be situated in any context, real or imagined, and should focus on powerful ideas over technical constraints.

All submissions will become part of a global design archive – a map of diverse spatial interpretations from around the world.

Eligibility and judging criteria

The competition is open to all.

There are no restrictions on location, budget or buildability. This is a conceptual design challenge.

Focus on spatial storytelling, clarity of purpose and imaginative execution.

Participants are encouraged to explore the full range of what a pavilion can be. It may be abstract or literal, futuristic or grounded in tradition, but above all, it should convey something essential about the country it represents – not as it is seen on a map, but as it is felt, lived or imagined.
