Competition overview
Buildner has launched its sixth annual Last Nuclear Bomb Memorial competition, inviting architecture enthusiasts to support the call for a ban on nuclear weapons.
As part of a series of silent architecture competitions that aim to highlight the global political silence surrounding the issue of nuclear weapons, the competition seeks design proposals for a memorial located within a decommissioned nuclear weapons testing site.
The competition seeks design submissions without any descriptive text, encouraging participants to let "the architecture do all the talking".
Eligibility and judging criteria
The competition is open to any participant aged 18 and over.
Submissions will be judged on how their ideas are communicated through visuals. The jury seeks buildings or structures that speak for themselves without any descriptive text.
How to enter
Participants are required to upload one A2 landscape-orientated presentation board with sketches, renderings, plans, sections, elevations, diagrams and/or other presentation tools to explain their proposal.
Submission deadlines
The final registration deadline is 13 November 2025, with the closing date for submissions on 15 December 2025.
Winners will be announced on 10 February 2026.
