    Lord St John of Fawsley (1929-2012)

    politician, author and barrister Lord St John of Fawsley has died aged 82 - Guardian

    He was chairman of the Royal Fine Art Commission from 1985 to 1999, when it was succeeded by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (now Design Council CABE, following a merger last year).

    Spanish architect and urban designer Manuel de Solà-Morales has died at the age of 73 - El País Catalonia

    The architect was Professor of Urbanism at the School of Architecture of Barcelona and his most famous works include the Moll de la Fusta seafront promenade in Barcelona.

    Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater to host summer camps


    Dezeen Wire:
    a series of summer camps are to take place this year at Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Fallingwater house in Pennsylvania to teach skills in architectural problem-solving to high-school pupils and school-leavers hoping to study architecture at university.

    Led by architects, the seven-day-long camps will involve drawing and model-making workshops, as well as lessons in Wright's principles for architecture. More details on the Fallingwater website.

    Thierry Henry rebuilds his home to fit four-storey fish tank - Daily Mail

    French footballer Thierry Henry has submitted plans to demolish and rebuild his £5.9 million home in north London to accomodate a four-storey-high fish tank - Daily Mail

    The existing house was designed in 1999 by British architect Sir Richard MacCormac, founder of British firm MJP Architects. You can see a couple of projects by MJP on Dezeen here.

    Former Airside co-founder and MD launch new design company


    Dezeen Wire:
    Alex Maclean and Caroline Matthews, formerly co-founder and MD of acclaimed design firm Airside, have announced the launch of their new studio, to be called Rupert Ray.

    Airside are to close next month - more details in our earlier Dezeen Wire story.

    The new company will open in April working on branding, graphic design, illustration, animation and live action in London.     Moby launches architecture blog


    Dezeen Wire:
     American musician Moby has started a personal blog documenting architecture in Los Angeles. The artist says it's "a daily (or weekly) collection of some of the random and strange and banal and beautiful architecture I see" - see it for yourself here.

    Other musicians interested in architecture and design include Ice Cube, who was filmed explaining how architects Charles and Ray Eames inspire him, and Kanye West, who announced plans to launch a design collaborative earlier this year.
