Just awesome.
April 20th, 2007 at 9:29 pmIt astonishing to see the audience seated above and behind the symphony.
The sweeping arcs are striking. Can the lighting be changed to reflect the mood?
April 20th, 2007 at 9:52 pmwow. i’d love to see that completed!
April 20th, 2007 at 10:02 pmThat is amazing! I want to visit this place! This looks like a really cool design. Also the photography is really well done to show of the curvature of this architecture. It has a feel of being futuristic yet still classy! Awesome.
April 20th, 2007 at 10:48 pmNice styles pop n’ fresh… gotta hear that nice sweet sweet sound in that great great place to hear the nice nice music!
April 20th, 2007 at 11:39 pmWow, those are some crazy pictures. Any pictures of what the outside would look like?
April 20th, 2007 at 11:44 pmThe Jetsons will love it.
April 21st, 2007 at 12:23 amAmazing just amazing
April 21st, 2007 at 2:30 am“Also the photography is really well done to show of the curvature of this architecture.”
They are all 3d renderings, none of these are actual photos.
April 21st, 2007 at 2:53 amGorgeous design, just impractical — wasted space, can’t maximize seating.
April 21st, 2007 at 3:00 amBut what will it sound like? Orchestras usually have a mass behind them to reflect sound at the audience. Will this open design lower the volume?
April 21st, 2007 at 3:21 amHey, it’s a concert hall!
April 21st, 2007 at 3:36 am@ Jangalow: A symphony is a piece of music, not a group of people who perform pieces of music. I believe you mean “behind the orchestra” or “performers.”
Nice design.
April 21st, 2007 at 4:14 amAll show. You never know if a concert hall has the perfect acoustics until it’s built and the experts take their equipment in and test the sound. Only a few concert halls in the world have what is considered perfect acoustics. Blowhards who give away that award before it’s even built are just impressed by looks.
April 21st, 2007 at 4:26 amIt remembers me The Fifth Element’s Theathre. Really nice
April 21st, 2007 at 4:26 amJust one word “wow”!
April 21st, 2007 at 7:01 amLooks like there’s plenty of space for a variety of vending machines. Don’t forget to install outlets!
April 21st, 2007 at 8:36 ami’m confused
cool design…
April 21st, 2007 at 8:41 amThe real thing is not going to look that great thou.. this is just a concept design
April 21st, 2007 at 11:41 amLooks like a great scheme. I currently working with the acoustic engineers (on Nouvel’s team) on another concert hall project and can tell you first hand - they know their stuff! They’ll get it close enough. Minor acoustic adjustment after construction finishes is normal.
April 21st, 2007 at 12:46 pmMan, your site is got very bad lag.
April 21st, 2007 at 12:57 pmI love the comment on the vending machines. Still, in a swanky thing like this, there will probably be people selling drinks, food and ice cream from boxes and bottles, all for big money. It also reminded me about how the lack of toilets are always a huge problem in French halls. They are designed for average needs rather than intermission surges. The Bastille Opera is better than most, but I would be afraid that the lines at the ladies room will be very long and the men’s rooms will be pretty toxic.
April 21st, 2007 at 6:38 pmwhat a fantastic place! i’d love to go there when it gets completed. it’s going to sound amazing as well as look amazing.
April 21st, 2007 at 6:48 pmfrom my small understanding of acoustic design, i think that the lack of large flat walls and smooth rounding surfaces on the perimeter of the space will eliminate a lot of auditory ‘junk’
April 21st, 2007 at 8:17 pmLooks awful - why can’t they design things on a human level?
April 21st, 2007 at 9:11 pmPut Laurent Garnier in it and I’ll be booking a flight…
April 22nd, 2007 at 9:02 pmSimplemente es impresionante. Lo que quisiera imaginar es la acústica del lugar.
Saludos
April 23rd, 2007 at 1:27 amWow, that sucked so much! congratz, u just made me sick.
May 1st, 2007 at 10:37 ammindblowing!
May 1st, 2007 at 8:22 pmNice design but whats about the acoustic?

May 4th, 2007 at 9:44 amBuild a copy in Sweden, please!
May 4th, 2007 at 10:17 pmVery much like the new one planned for Hamburg in 2010, no?
May 6th, 2007 at 7:59 pmawesome - acoustics will be fron New Zealand - Marshall Day Acoustics - great for la nouvelle zeland!!
May 19th, 2007 at 4:17 amI hate to repeat what other have already said, but it really is an brilliant design. I love it! I wish we’d see more of these creations in Israel!

August 18th, 2007 at 7:02 amthis building is awesome.i’d like to listen claude debussy or syd barrett in this place.such an avantgarde stuff.
September 19th, 2007 at 7:06 amI prefer the Urban Future Organization competition winner for the Sarajevo concert hall… much better looking
September 22nd, 2007 at 12:41 pmThe main auditorium looks very similar to Nouvel’s almost finished Copenhagen Concert Hall.
October 9th, 2007 at 11:15 amYes, this is fantastic. This guys at JN ateliers have great taste and progressive thinking. Theire architecture is aberrant and beautiful at the same time. Love it.
January 19th, 2008 at 3:34 pmAbout the acoustics, some had questions about the fact the audience was seated around the stage: some might already know it has been done before, and by Hans Scharoun if you please. It’s the whole concept of the Berlin Philarmony, having the audience seated around the stage, with the sound actually rising from the core and then downing on the audience.
I find the Sharoun design completely astonishing, and I’m surprised this idea hasn’t been repeated a lot since then as far as I know. Thanks JN!
January 20th, 2008 at 2:45 pmwow! love this
February 6th, 2008 at 9:03 pmclassic !!!!!! was tired of seeing same designs of the auditorium…. never knew sumthing like this is also possible…..well u have inspired me…thnks:)
