Growing Jewelry by Hafsteinn Juliusson

Icelandic designer Hafsteinn Juliusson has designed a collection of jewellery that incorporates moss.

Called Growing Jewelry, the pieces are hand made from silver in a limited edition.

The designer claims the moss can remain green for up to twelve weeks if cared for properly.

Here's a tiny bit of text from Juliusson:

--

Growing Jewelry is a redefinition of modern values. It is a clash of jewelry an gardening; couture and organism.

The collection of this hand jewelry is designed for people in metropolitan cities and is an experiment in drawing nature toward man, as nature being the presupposition of life.

The Growing Jewelry is now available in limited quantity.

I love these, I’ve always wanted to have a miniature spray canister in my man-bag.

Wonderful concept, no where near enough greenery in cities, I love the idea of being able to wear plants like that.

Slightly tricky to pull off though!

Does anyone know when this design was presented? I swear that I saw this like two years ago . . . and sara’s link shows that it’s not a new idea.

Into the past where craftsmanship and dedication first lifted an idea from paper to reality to notoriety, and into the future where a newly positioned sport and lifestyle brand—young at heart and with an attitude born of possibility—has already found a place with those in the know. Those who head their own tribes, create the latest trends, work hard and play harder.

lol i would totally get my moss get all ragged and scraggly. But those rings really are pretty cool. i agree with the first commentor there, keeping a spray can in my “man bag” would be most interesting
