Here are some more details from Vivanco:

After spending several summers in the Mexican Caribbean I had enough inspiration to develop a very special project.

I've always felt a great curiosity about the seaweed and coral reefs, their ability to generate a variety of colours and intensities, and in the case of seaweeds, their constant movement under water, resembling a slow dance.

Algae is a suspension lamp inspired by all this memories, resembling an aquatic algae that is suspended in the air, constantly changing its shape, depending on the angle from where you look at it.

What a great design! After working in Algae production I must say I have a sentiment for this. I'd love to get my hands on one of these.

does anyone actually see the link to seeweeds? could be me but.. i don't.. i would find it more credible if you would say that the inspiration was someting like underwair hanging from a line to dry!

Wow, I really love this lamp. Nice, simple use of materials and production technique – something beautiful has been created with very little. More please.
