ABITARE IL TEMPO 2007, VERONA, ITALY

MUTAGENESIS

A futuristic foretaste of the shape of things to come. an exploration of human behaviour and interaction. Experiments and visions for living and surviving. Movement captured in time.

MUTAGENESIS, a solo exhibition by Arne Quinze, takes you on a journey that transcends the dimensions of time and space. In a presentation specially conceived for 4,000 square metres of space at abitare il tempo, this belgian artist outlines his vision for the future, offering an enlightening glimpse of the myriad mutagens that await us.

Mutagenesis is structured around two mainstays that spontaneously merge into one another: ARTEFACTS OF TODAY and ARTEFACTS OF THE FUTURE.

ARTEFACTS OF TODAY are direct descendants of Quinze’s vision for a way of life that awaits us, translated into realized designs (Deer, Oblivion), art objects (Bond), sculptures (Uchronia), a house (Pod) and a vehicle (Experience Truck), all of which bear quinze’s distinctive signature.

With ARTEFACTS OF THE FUTURE quinze makes a giant leap in time, presenting a range of futuristic sculptures. they are the progeny of the never-ending mutation so typical of mother nature. their shells betray their origins, their physical shapes mirror their moment of their conception. they are forms we humans can perceive and experience, capturing the imperceptibly rapid transmutation of the dna of time and space.

MUTAGENESIS captures an evolutionary time-warp, made tangible in powerful and fantastic sculptures and installations.
