Watch Dezeen's second Spirit of the City talk at A/D/O in Brooklyn

Dezeen's US editor Dan Howarth spoke to architecture studios Desai Chia, MKCA and Only If as part of Dezeen's second Spirit of the City talk at A/D/O in Brooklyn.

During the talk, Desai Chia Architecture co-founder Katherine Chia, MKCA principal Michael K Chen, and Karolina Czeczek of Only If Architecture presented their studio's latest work and discussed the benefits and challenges of being based in New York City

Founded by Katherine Chia and Arjun Desai in 1996, Desai Chia Architecture has completed a range of cultural, residential, and commercial projects, including a recently built home on Lake Michigan with a cantilevered roof made from blackened timber.

MKCA's recent work includes a West Village two-bedroom apartment fitted with custom carpentry and an Upper East Side townhouse with bespoke staircase and furniture.

Only If Architecture is a young New York firm, founded in 2013, which finished a minimalist, mirrored office space in the city last year.

The panel discussion was the second in a series of talks organised by Dezeen to coincide with British studio United Visual Artists' Spirit of the City installation at A/D/O, which comprises a set of gold-mirrored rotating columns.

The first talk was focused on design, and featured local designers Fernando Mastrangalo, Leilani Zahn, and Dylan Davis of Ladies and Gentlemen Studio. Watch it below:
