Watch MIT's modular Mini Cheetah robot land a backflip

Our new captioned movie shows MIT's "virtually indestructible" Mini Cheetah robot performing a host of athletic manoeuvres, including stretching, running and jumping.

The nimble quadruped can navigate uneven terrains at up to five miles per hour and can recover from nudges, kicks and falls with a swing of its legs.

Unlike its larger, more expensive predecessor the Cheetah 3, the Mini Cheetah weighs just nine kilograms and was designed with modularity in mind. Each leg consists of three low-cost readily available motors that can be added and taken away "like Lego".
