Dezeen Showroom: Spanish brand Azteca has launched Onyx Lux, a tile that recreates the look of precious stone and offers unusual pale shades of blue and green.

The Onyx Lux tile range is inspired by the Onyx gemstone, which has a brightness and transparency cut with marble-like striations.

"Using the latest digital technology, Onyx Lux reproduces the clarity and shine of the mineral," said Azteca area manager Fernando Navarro. "The striations in the surface are strikingly realistic."

Onyx Lux is available in three neutral colours, along with two more daring and unusual hues: light green and light blue.

There are three porcelain formats suitable for floors, and a 30 to 90 centimetre size in white-body ceramic for walls.

These can be complemented with special decorative and mosaic designs, including one, Décor Creta, with a shadow effect that can only be seen when the light falls on it.

Azteca is part of Tile of Spain, an association of over 100 tile manufacturers.
