HF Series lighting by Preben Dal for Yamagiwa

Dezeen Showroom: designer Preben Dal and Japanese lighting brand Yamagiwa have released a pendant lamp that casts an "enchanting gradation of light".

HF Series was originally designed in the 1960's by Preben Dal for Danish lighting design company Hans Folsgaard, who gave it the name Simfoni, and was in production for ten years before being discontinued.

After 50 years, Yamagiwa has reissued the faceted pendant light for the contemporary market.

The shades are made up of elongated diamond shaped plates made from steel, which overlap to create a harlequin-patterned effect.

"Each facet shows profound enchanting gradation like a curtain of light when it turns on," said the brand.

The lamps come in a two-toned design of grey and white and are available in three size options to suit a range of interiors.
