Nei table by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Koyori

Dezeen Showroom: design duo and brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec have created a solid oak dining table for Japanese furniture brand Koyori, which is characterised by its simplicity.

Called Nei, the table is available in a range of sizes and consists of three solid oak elements: the tabletop, legs and top support.

Nei is a table designed from solid oak

Each of these elements was joined together using "precise cutting and high-precision joining techniques" to create an understated table with smooth and rounded edges, according to Koyori.

"The space between the tabletop and the legs appears like a parallel curve when viewed from above," said the furniture brand.

Tapering from top to bottom, the legs were created from shaved wood that features a grainy pattern. They are also sturdy enough to support the tabletop but remain elegant in their shape.

"Nei inherits Ronan's idea of beautifully joining chiseled parts as seen even in the Musubi Armchair and Shaku Chair – solid wood creations also from Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec," added Koyori.

"This table, with its natural look yet proportionate design, is all set to be the next torchbearer of the versatile Koyori brand."
