Shortlisted for civic building of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, The Cloud Town Convention and Exhibition Centre by Approach Design has been designed to encourage further public use.

The Chinese architects added the new hall to the Hangzhou Cloud Town Exhibition Centre, featuring a running track and sports courts under a green roof. The building is an addition to the large latticed structure that the studio designed for the first stage of the convention centre in 2015. The vast indoor space can be converted into a sports warehouse, Hangzhou's first sports hall, when there isn't an exhibition on. The project aims to maximise the public value of large-scale urban civic buildings by encouraging people to take advantage of the facilities available.
