Created by Bergnes de las Casas, Nicolas Apartment is a residential space designed for a couple in central Barcelona.

The apartment was created for a couple, whose children have now flown the nest, seeking a new space that suits their new lifestyle.

The project provides a neutral container, defined by timeless architectural language to provide a serene, luminous atmosphere compared to its prior fragmented state.

The material simplicity of the proposal is summarised by using three natural materials. Wood on horizontal planes provides warmth and continuity to the spaces; whitewash rendering on vertical planes generates a neutral container; and Marquina black marble formalises auxiliary elements.

This project has been longlisted in the apartment interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
