Iceberg
by Rundzwei Architekten

Rundzwei Architekten has transformed an unused building, adding a new wood-build that grows over the top of the existing 1950s building.

The building erected after the war left an empty spot on a corner site of  popular borough Moabit in Berlin.

To enhance spaces inside, the sleek corrugated metal facade pushes into the street and the staircase towards the back is moved out as an open structure. The filigree metal structure of the staircase wraps along the building facade and provides every flat with large balconies.

This project has been longlisted in the housing project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
