Leyton House by McMahon Architecture, which is located in London, England, has been designed to maximise the potential of its Urban in-fill setting.

The design is defined by its elemental nature and comprises two distinct blocks – a monolithic masonary plinth with a finely detailed timber structure above – the simple form is completed by a sculptural brick chimney. Courtyard gardens enable daylight to penetrate deep into the plan, with carefully modulated roof lights creating shadows that enrich the space throughout the day. Internally exposed construction and a warm, natural, material palette help to create an unexpected generosity of space and a sense of calmness.

This project has been longlisted in the urban house category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
