Concrete Plinth House
by DGN Studio

Concrete Plinth House by DGN Studio.

A series of concrete plinths are embedded into the ground of a Victorian end of terrace house in London.

These plinths stage the solitary and communal activities of a young couple and support the oak frame and steel structure that make up the fabric and lining of the new space.

While the sunken concrete base grounds the house with an atmosphere of permanence, the glazed and paneled oak frame filters light into the house in order to create a serene space - birthed from, yet entirely different to the Victorian architecture of its host.

This project has been longlisted in the residential rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
