NZI Architects has designed the transformation of an office building into a student residence in Paris, France.

This project was the transformation of an old office building into a straw and wood student residence in Paris.

In order to transform the 4,400 square metre offices into student housing, the architects proposed to open the views to allow direct sunlight in the centre of the building and add value to the basement by creating a real "garden level", generating a real place of collective life.

Additionally, NZI Architects want to fill the building with prefabricated wood panels with bio-sourced insulation such as straw. At lower costs, the project was able to utilise a rapid construction technique.

"To limit the impact of the construction sector, it is necessary to renew our ways of building and take advantage of construction techniques that allow energy-efficient constructions," said NZI Architects.

This project has been longlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
