Archer Humphyres Architects and Koko CEO Olly Bengough have renovated the music theatre Koko in London, United Kingdom.

This project was the restoration of London's iconic concert venue and former theatre, Koko.

After surviving a hugely damaging fire in 2020, Koko has been fully restored to its original Grade II-listed Victorian theatre glory with original features uncovered, acoustics reimagined and fire and water damage restored.

Additionally, the traditional Koko site has been expanded to include two adjacent historic buildings with the project resulting in a carefully connected series of 16 new spaces, with interior design by Pirajean Lees.

These spaces preserve and celebrate the buildings' histories – while reinventing them for the decades ahead and elevating the entire concept of what a historic cultural venue can be today.

This project has been longlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
