MPavilion 2021 – The Lightcatcher by MAP Studio
Anthony Richardson

MAP Studio has created a temporary pavilion for a design event in one of Melbourne's historic gardens.

The project is the eighth iteration in a series of temporary pavilions designed by an outstanding international architect every year for MPavilion, Australia's leading architectural commission and design event created by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation.

Standing in Melbourne’s historic Queen Victoria Gardens, the MAP Studio pavilion is a bright, vibrant space which caters effortlessly to MPavilion's diverse public program of free events, performances and installations to encourage design debate and cultural exchange. It is imagined as a shimmering, kaleidoscopic device, a form of urban lighthouse intended to illuminate and reflect the diverse and inclusive programming.

This project has been longlisted in the small building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
