Framework has created a multifunctional space for DIY consumers in Germany.

The project is located in Koln, and works as a mini DIY shop, source of inspiration and event location to translate digital ideas into a three-dimensional space.

The 'MachBar' (which means both 'do-able' and 'doing'-bar) provides a setting for social media fans of DIY to meet as a community. The space reflects both a spontaneous feel and the DIY spirit, while being modular at the same time.

This requires a space that reflects the brand and the DIY spirit, while being modular and versatile to accommodate various functions. The workbench that runs through the room is therefore made up of individual modules and is multifunctional – the shop interior simply adapts to each event and DIY theme. All natural pine wood furniture, shelves and perforated walls were built and planned to fit in order to embody OBI’s DIY spirit.

This project has been longlisted in the small retail interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
