Magpie Studio has designed the Straits Kitchen - A Melting Pot of Singaporean Culture and Cuisine in London, United Kingdom.

This project celebrates the rich melting pot of culture and cuisine in Singapore.

True to the subject matter, we created an ID with many rich ingredients. Eclectic food collages use archival patterns from the region to bring texture and colour to silhouettes of foods – inspired by local dishes.

Humbly hand cut, Straits Kitchen's food is reminiscent of the recipe scrapbooks passed down to Chef Khoo by his grandmother.

The logo mark is delivered via a bespoke 'chop'  (used as a seal of authenticity in Asian culture) with an 'S' curve which mimics the body of water from which the restaurant takes its name.

This project has been longlisted in the graphic design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
