Neri&Hu: Traversing Thresholds at MAXXI by Neri&Hu
Simone Bossi

Neri&Hu has created an installation that investigates and addresses the archival work of Carlo Scarpa at the MAXXI Museum in Rome.

The work reinterprets Scarpa's notions of the architectural threshold by examining ways in which the architect explored conditions of materiality, voyeurism and the concept of circulation to create expressive and intimate moments within his designs.

Using the same attention to craft and detail that characterised the work of Scarpa, Neri&Hu seek to highlight the tactility, versatility, and elegance of Alcantara materials within architectural design.

Revolving around the concept of 'threshold', the exhibition showcases six architectural 'threshold' moments that contrast spatial environments, such as interiority and exteriority, or the public and the private.

This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
