Studio 212 Fahrenheit has created an art object as part of an exhibition to represent and honour the Jewish community during and after the war.

The synagogue of Groningen in the Netherlands wanted to expand their storytelling about Jewish heritage, and to engage visitors by inviting them to further explore a history replete with both richness and tragedy.

The name of the art object 'Thuis' translates as 'home', and stands as part of the exhibition to represent and honour the Jewish community during and after the war.

The installation is a brass cube covered with 3,064 Stars of David to represent all the members of the Jewish community who were deported during WWII. Once inside the cube, visitors observe that only 200 stars let the light through, highlighting the members who survived deportation and came back home.

This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
