Ludwig Godefroy has designed Casa Alférez in Mexico.

Nestled in a Mexican pine forest, the cube-shaped structure of Casa Alférez appears impenetrable from the outside.

The walls are angular with thin vertical windows, yet the interior spaces are oriented upwards, offering views of the sky and treetops.

The compact, stacked footprint prioritises height over width, with five half-levels and mezzanine-style rooms.

Balancing the material's weight with the weightlessness of the spaces, the poured-in-place concrete structure appears perched on the sloping topography.

This project has been longlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
